United Boilers & Mechanical Services, Inc took over in 2001 as a manufacturer’s representative sales organization, mechanical services and installations group of Sandy Hark Sales in Puerto Rico. By 2003 UBM Engineering had regained leadership in the packaged boiler sales and boiler room service industry, repositioning Cleaver Brooks as the premier boiler line in sales and service in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean basin. Customer service became priority # 1, and quality control in the boiler service business was pioneered by UBM, including the most stringent and GMP pharmaceutical plant compliance.

In 2004 UBM became innovative offering equipment and service value with no equal in the industry. We gained “R” stamp certification, and introduced the market with state of the art boiler repair techniques that reduced cost to the customer, offered greater reliability and delivered less down time of the equipment. Our personnel underwent one of the most rigorous trainings in the industry and confidence on the Cleaver Brooks line soared once again. By the end of 2004, UBM’s personnel had more than 50 combined years of boiler repair experience and more than 30 in combustion and technical expertise. UBM was ready to take on the challenges 2005 presented head on. Our engineered approach was starting to shine and customers were ready and confident that the new generation of boilers and controls that came from UBM engineering were much better and efficient than previous offerings.

In 2005 UBM positioned itself into the # 1 boiler room supplier on the island. With our solid background soon different manufacturers wanted to be represented by UBM. As other lines were added and our approach was adopted into other segments of the market and customers, we felt that UBM had the strength, knowledge and most important the people to venture other markets. In a slow and well studied matter UBM acquired other lines that not only apply to our core segments but to other segments which are in great need of engineered product services and sound technical assistance as to their implementation. This approach to other segments required a wider approach to our product offering.

In 2005 United Boilers & Mechanical Services was renamed UBM Engineering. We will continue to work on our mission, vision, and values, improving on our value added formula. We will continue to diversify our offering of services, equipment and market sectors. 2006 will certainly be an exciting one.
